DIY: Bleach Heart

I got inspired by this project and decided to make one of my own, just in time for Valentine's Day!
1. Start with buying a cheap a sweater or shirt or use an old one you want to jazz up.
2. Place cardboard under the layer you will be bleaching.
3. Bleach your design!  I went with a simple heart and used bleach in gel form thinking it wouldn't get everywhere.  You could also use a bleach pen or paint liquid bleach onto the shirt.
4.  Let the bleach sit until it reaches your desired color.  I waiting about 45 minutes for mine.
5. Rinse out the bleach thoroughly and let dry.
I'm wearing the shirt here.
I might try this bleach tutorial next!

Arizona: Day Three

Day three we spent in beautiful Sedona
with a stop to the Chapel on the Hill.
Then onward to Winslow through Flagstaff.
Leaving Sedona we quickly found ourselves surrounded by snow while driving through the mountains.
We stopped in Winslow where we stayed the next few nights spending Christmas with family.

Want to see more of Sedona?  So did we! We go back on Christmas day.

See Day 1 and Day 2.

Arizona: Day Two

Onward from Prescott into the snow covered mountains.
We drove through Verde Valley and entered Jerome, AZ.
"America's Most Vertical City" and "Largest Ghost Town in America".
My favorite stop there was King Gold Mine which included Pedro, hundreds of old cars (mostly still working), and a saw mill.

This is Don.  Don and his wife now own the old ghost town at King Gold Mine in Jerome.  He spoke to us and personally showed us around for quite some time.  Here is a video of him driving around speaking about Jerome.
Then onward to Sedona we went.
And there is where we stayed the night.

See Day One here.

Arizona: Day One

As I mentioned before, I took over 1000 pictures when we visited Arizona over the holiday.  I want to share a lot of them so I'm going to go day by day.

This is day one:
Yes, that's a tumbleweed!  They are real.
Ummmm, mountains in AZ?  Since when?
Day one:  We drove from Phoenix,  along the way.....

we visited:
Arcosanti - an experimental community
Granite Dells - we hiked partially around the lake

Saw my first Saguaro - they're huge!
Learned a lot about Arizona Cacti.

Spent the night here:

Dog Days: Black and White

Having  black and white dogs make for some
good black and white pictures of them.
Missed these guys while we were in AZ.
I don't think they had such a good time when we were gone.

DIY: Shadowbox Earring Organizer

After getting my necklaces organized, I needed some organization for my earrings.
Materials needed:
-Shadowbox (they come in all shapes, colors, and sizes).
-Wire
-Scissors
-Decorative paper, fabric, or painting
The shadowbox I bought had adjustable depths, so I was able to take out an insert and wrap wire around each side of the insert.
The hardest part about this was making the wire tight without bending the sides of the insert.
I put a piece of scrapbook paper as my backdrop but you can also use fabric or a painting.  When I need a change up, I'll just trade out the paper for a different design.

I'm happy with the end product and find myself using the ledge on the bottom to put my post earrings on.

Happy organizing!
