A Trip to the Zoo

I came across some photos from a visit to the zoo this last summer while home in Wisconsin.

My favorite of all the animals:  The Lions

 I came across this lion picture today and can not help but look at a lion and think of how majestic they are.  A couple things have shaped me to think this way about lions.  One being Aslan, the lion in the Narnia Chronicles series.  The author, C.S. Lewis wrote in a letter:

“The whole Narnia story is about Christ.” CS Lewis commented: “Since Narnia is a world of talking beasts, I thought he would become a talking beast there as he became a man here. I pictured him becoming a lion there because a) the lion is supposed to be the king of beasts; b) Christ is called ‘the lion of Judah’ in the Bible.” 

Another influence of mine is the story of Christian the lion.  This is the story of a lion that was rescued by two men and later released into the wild.  After a year apart, the now grown lion, reunited with the men that raised him and greeted them with such love.  Incredible.
