It's Not Winter Yet...

I've been hearing friends and family say they got a jump on Christmas this year and are already done with all of their shopping.  I love Christmas time and all it represents but it seems unnatural to me to start all the celebration before Thanksgiving!  Don't get me wrong, I put up the Christmas decorations and listen to Christmas music 24/7 but only starting the day after Thanksgiving.  I also just want to hang onto Autumn as long as I can because it's also one of my favorite times.  This fall, I was able to go home to my parents orchard to help out and I took a billion pictures.  Here are some more images to keep us all in the Autumn season and don't forget everything you are thankful for!

The Life of an Apple at the Orchard

When I was home at my parent's orchard
I was able to see some of the journey the apples go through to get costumer ready.
My parents were blessed with an abundance of apples this year so almost everyday I was there, they were picking, polishing and packing their apples.
There is an art to picking the ripe apples that I don't think I've mastered yet.
Once picked the apples go to the antique apple polishing machine.  They are placed on one end of the machine and go through on a conveyor belt and are polished inside with horse hair brushes.
They come out the other side shiny and polished
and are bagged according to variety for the customers to buy!

Don't you just love going to orchards in the fall!?

My parents had a dream...

My parents started an apple orchard after my sister and I went off to college, all by themselves.  With  God's help and a lot of hard work, they made their dreams come true.  I've seen the orchard each year in it's off season because I typically flew home in the summer and winter time.  This year, I made sure to fly home for their third season open.  I fell in love with the orchard life!  I will surely be posting more soon about the daily life on a working orchard.

*UPDATE:  See more of my trip to the orchard here!

Baby Shoot in The Orchard

While I was visiting home in Wisconsin,
I had the opportunity to take some pictures
of my friend and four month year old, Asher.
We just happened to be in my parent's Orchard,
which was perfect for the shoot.
Here is a maternity shoot I did of my sister in Wisconsin.
