A Beach Hike: Napatree Point

A few weeks ago we went to our favorite beach, Napatree Point, to hike to the end of it.  When we got there a fog rolled in.  We walked for miles with only seeing three people, also walking out, to go fishing.  I've never walked out to the end before (about two miles down) and with barely any visibility in front of me I really had no sense of distance when we were walking.
The beach hike was a total of 4 miles.  I think I would visit this beach every single day if I could.

Sunsets Are My Fav

And sometimes, against all odds, against all logic, we still hope.
See more sunsets here.

Weekapaug Lookout

Weekapaug Lookout is probably one of my favorite places to go, especially for sunsets.  It's a lookout; in that you can't swim there because it's packed with boulders and with no parking lot.  You just park in one of the several spots on the street and it is never packed, which is what makes it one of my favorite spots here in New England.  I learned since moving here about six years ago, I know where there are more cool spots then the locals.  I guess if you grow up somewhere you don't explore much.  This is one of those spots the locals have no clue where I'm talking about.
Here is another spot the locals have no clue exists.

Happy fourth of July!!!!
Here are some of our pics from last year.
Our plans this year include some swimming and coming up with a new fourth of July tradition.
What are your plans to celebrate our freedom?

A New England Beach in October

The beach in October: very empty.
This is not my favorite beach around since it is sooo crowded during the summer months.
See below:
And since it's located right next to the Thames River the ferries, submarines, and sail boats are traveling through leaving the water really bubbly and sticky.

But... it's always nice to go to a deserted beach in October.

See my favorite beach in the area here.

Date Night

We didn't travel all too far for our (newly proclaimed) weekly date night.  We found ourselves at our most favorite beach we have found in New England, Napatree Point.

We did things like having throwing contests, skipping rocks, and comparing our footprints in the sand.  We almost ventured to the end to try to find the fort ruins but our hunger beat out our curiosity.
You can see more of this beach here and here.

We ended up eating here and can't wait to bring my seafood loving parents from WI there when they visit next.

Total Date Cost:  $46.31

Independence Day! Only ten days late...

This was our first Fourth that we went to the ocean to watch the fireworks.
We ended up choosing a beach down the coast a bit to watch so it wouldn't be so crowded.
See more of this beach here and here.

Happy July!
It's already half over!
I feel like this guy!
